Water & Wine Print
The first ever documented miracle performed by Jesus was the turning of the water into wine at a wedding he attended in Cana.
As was custom both then and quite often now a days, wine was to be provided for the guests at the wedding. As Jesus and his followers were not men or women of wealth it is understandable that the cost of wine for all the guests at a large wedding might not be met. Running out of wine for the guests would have been considered an embarrassment for the newlyweds and Mary was sympathetic to this when she humbly asked Jesus to intercede.
Jesus knew he could not act hastily at this point in time as it was not for people to know who He really was, so this miracle was performed in secret at the request of his mother. Mary went to the men who were serving the wine and said something with far more weight than many give it credit for, she said "Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it", Mary in a quiet way was acknowledging her son's authority and supernatural ability.
We dont know about you but we figure the changing of water into wine is a pretty good demonstration of Jesus' power even down to an atomic level.
