The Beloved Son Print

Some of the most beautiful imagery described in the bible is that of Jesus's baptism by John. Jesus and John were biological cousins and their relationship goes back to the very moment they met, in their mothers wombs. It was recorded how even as an infant John felt the presence of God being born into flesh, when his mother approached a pregnant Mary, John 'leapt' in her stomach and in that moment Johns mother knew the baby in Marys womb was special.

When Jesus went to be baptised Johns protested that it is Jesus who should be baptising him, nonetheless eventually John agrees and Jesus was submerged. In doing this Jesus fulfilled one of the prophecies that depicted his arrival but more importantly has proven with his actions his obedience to God.

When he arose a dove descends to him and a voice rings out clear for all present to hear "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased". God was showing his approval of Jesus for all those present to see.
